The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has commended residents of the South-East for what it described as “high compliance” with the sit-at-home directive observed in parts of the region during the Biafra Day commemoration.
The group said the level of participation reflected strong solidarity with the memory and struggles associated with the Biafran agitation, noting that the observance demonstrated continued political consciousness among supporters across the South-East.
Reports indicated that some commercial activities were disrupted in certain areas, with markets, schools, and transport services operating at reduced capacity as residents observed the annual event in varying degrees across states in the region.

MASSOB maintained that the compliance was a peaceful expression of identity and remembrance, while urging supporters to remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could lead to confrontation with security agencies or disruption of public order.
The group also reiterated its call for continued dialogue and recognition of grievances it associates with the Biafra struggle, stressing that peaceful advocacy remains central to its approach.
Meanwhile, reactions to the sit-at-home exercise remain mixed, with some stakeholders expressing concern over its economic and social impact, while others view it as a symbolic act of remembrance.
Security presence was reportedly heightened in some locations to prevent breakdown of law and order during the observance period.
