Gunmen Kidnap Former Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons in Ibadan

Ibadan, Oyo State – June 3, 2026

Armed gunmen have abducted Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Nigerian Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident reportedly occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Challenge/Elewura area of the city while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.

The family confirmed the abduction in a statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro. According to the statement, security agencies were immediately notified of the incident and efforts to secure the release of the victims commenced without delay.

The Oyo State Police Command has also confirmed the abduction, stating that investigations are underway. Police authorities disclosed that the victims’ vehicle has been recovered and that tactical teams have been deployed to track down the kidnappers, rescue the victims, and bring those responsible to justice.

The incident has further heightened concerns over the security situation in Oyo State, coming amid a series of recent kidnapping cases and violent crimes reported in different parts of the state.

As of the time of filing this report, Mrs. John-Paul and her twin sons had not been rescued, while security agencies continued intensive efforts to locate and secure their safe release.

The police have assured residents that all necessary measures are being taken to address the situation and strengthen security operations in the affected areas.
