PRP Knocks Tinubu, Demands Resignation Over Worsening Insecurity

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign over what it described as the worsening security situation across Nigeria, citing the increasing wave of kidnappings, terrorist attacks, and violent crimes affecting communities nationwide.

In a statement, the party expressed concern over the growing insecurity in several parts of the country, arguing that the Federal Government has failed to adequately protect lives and property despite repeated assurances that the security situation would improve.

The PRP stated that recent incidents of school abductions, attacks on rural communities, and rising terrorist activities have heightened public fears and raised fresh questions about the effectiveness of Nigeria’s security architecture. The party maintained that the government must take responsibility for addressing the crisis and restoring public confidence in its ability to safeguard citizens.

According to the party, the persistent insecurity has not only resulted in the loss of lives but has also negatively impacted education, agriculture, business activities, and economic development across many parts of the country.

The opposition party further argued that the worsening security environment has created hardship for millions of Nigerians, particularly those living in rural communities frequently targeted by kidnappers and armed groups.

The call comes amid growing public debate over insecurity and increasing demands from political parties, civil society organisations, labour groups, and other stakeholders for more decisive action against kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not publicly responded to the PRP’s demand for President Tinubu’s resignation.
