Shettima Seeks Public Support For Tinubu Administration Amid Persistent Security Challenges

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue supporting government efforts to address the country’s security challenges, insisting that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to restoring peace, stability and national unity.

Speaking after a special Democracy Day prayer session held at the National Mosque in Abuja, Shettima said the administration was determined to tackle insecurity and secure the release of citizens currently held by armed groups. He also called on Nigerians to pray for peace and national cohesion, stressing that the country’s shared interests outweigh its divisions.

The Vice President acknowledged the sacrifices of past and present Nigerians who have contributed to sustaining the country’s democratic journey, while expressing confidence that ongoing efforts would eventually yield positive results. According to him, the government remains focused on restoring security and creating conditions for national development.

His remarks come at a time when concerns over insecurity continue to dominate public discourse across the country. Recent months have witnessed recurring incidents of terrorism, banditry, kidnappings and violent attacks in several states, prompting renewed calls for more effective measures to protect lives and property.

Religious leaders at the prayer gathering also appealed to Nigerians to remain patriotic and committed to peaceful coexistence, while urging political leaders to take decisive actions capable of addressing the nation’s security and socio-economic challenges.

The comments reflect the administration’s continued defence of its security policies amid growing public demand for tangible improvements in safety and living conditions. While government officials insist that efforts are being intensified to confront armed groups and criminal networks, many Nigerians continue to measure progress against the realities of persistent attacks and abductions reported across different parts of the country.
