Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have repelled multiple terrorist attacks across Katsina and Zamfara states, killing three suspected terrorists, rescuing an abducted district head, and recovering arms, ammunition, and motorcycles during coordinated security operations.

According to the military, the operations were conducted on July 2 as part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorist groups operating across Nigeria’s North-West. In Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops engaged terrorists between Amara and Chakau Junction, forcing them to flee and abandon an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, and two motorcycles.

In a separate operation around Sabon Garin and Dantakeri in Dutsinma Local Government Area, troops working alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes responded to another terrorist attack, neutralising one of the assailants during a gun battle.

The military also rescued the District Head of Farin Hawa, Mubarak Sharin, who had been abducted by armed terrorists during an attack on his community in Malumfashi Local Government Area. Troops pursued the fleeing gunmen, killed one suspected terrorist, and successfully secured the release of the traditional ruler.

Meanwhile, in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops repelled another terrorist assault on their position at Dauran. Following a fierce exchange of gunfire, the attackers retreated, leaving behind one AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 35 rounds of ammunition, a bandolier, and a hydration pack.

The military commended the courage and professionalism of its personnel, as well as the support of collaborating security agencies and local vigilantes, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups and protecting lives and property across the North-West.
