Ondo Auditor-General Queries ₦6.7 Billion OSOPADEC Contracts Over Missing Procurement Documents

Fresh accountability concerns have emerged in Ondo State after the Auditor-General queried contracts worth ₦6.7 billion awarded by the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), following the agency’s failure to produce key procurement and contract documents requested during the 2025 audit.

According to the Auditor-General’s report for the year ended December 31, 2025, auditors were unable to verify whether the contracts complied with procurement laws, financial regulations, approved contract terms, or implementation standards because the required documentation was not made available for inspection.

The affected projects reportedly cover security infrastructure, educational interventions, and road construction across Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas. Among them is a ₦353.68 million contract awarded to DD Cyrusrex Enterprise for the community listing and identification of mandate areas in the two local governments.

Independent checks cited in the report also raised questions about some of the beneficiary companies, with one reportedly incorporated only in January 2025, while another could not be traced in official corporate records, further intensifying concerns over transparency in the award of the contracts.

The audit findings have renewed calls for greater accountability in the management of public funds meant for oil-producing communities, with observers urging the Ondo State Government and relevant anti-corruption agencies to investigate the contracts and ensure compliance with public procurement laws.
