Stakeholders across Nigeria’s financial and business sectors have commended the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, for restoring confidence in the Federal Ministry of Finance, describing his leadership as a turning point after years of policy uncertainty and weak stakeholder engagement.
Representatives of the organised private sector, professional bodies and the investment community said the ministry has undergone a noticeable transformation under Oyedele’s leadership. They pointed to improved fiscal coordination, greater transparency and more regular consultations with key economic stakeholders as evidence of a more responsive and effective ministry.
The President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Samuel Agbeluyi, praised Oyedele’s emphasis on professionalism and evidence-based policymaking. According to him, the minister’s consultative leadership style has strengthened collaboration between government, businesses and development partners, helping to rebuild confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal management.
Similarly, the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) said the Finance Ministry has become more receptive to the concerns of the organised private sector. The association noted that sustained dialogue between government and businesses has improved understanding of economic policies and created a more predictable operating environment for investors and employers.
Tax expert Daniel Ikedi also credited Oyedele with improving coordination among key economic institutions, enhancing communication on fiscal policies and advancing reforms aimed at increasing revenue mobilisation, strengthening public finance management and boosting investor confidence. He argued that the minister has successfully translated fiscal policy proposals into coordinated government action since assuming office.
Another stakeholder, Faith Aina, described the renewed momentum within the ministry as a significant departure from previous years, expressing optimism that the ministry is once again providing the leadership needed to support Nigeria’s economic recovery and long-term development.
The commendations come as the Federal Government continues to implement fiscal and tax reforms aimed at improving revenue generation, strengthening macroeconomic stability and restoring investor confidence amid persistent economic challenges.
