Troops Disrupt Terrorist Supply Network In Zamfara, Recover Large Cache Of Ammunition

Nigerian troops have arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Zamfara State and recovered a large quantity of ammunition allegedly being transported to armed groups operating in the North-West region.

According to security reports, the suspect was intercepted during an intelligence-led operation aimed at disrupting the supply chains that sustain terrorist and bandit networks across the state. Security operatives reportedly recovered about 1,000 rounds of ammunition concealed in a sack during the operation.

Military sources said the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle logistical networks that provide weapons, ammunition, fuel and other support materials to criminal groups responsible for attacks, kidnappings and killings across Zamfara and neighbouring states. Similar operations in recent months have led to the arrest of suspected couriers and the seizure of ammunition destined for terrorist camps.

Security experts have repeatedly noted that disrupting supply routes remains a critical component of the fight against insurgency and banditry, as armed groups depend heavily on networks of collaborators and suppliers to sustain their operations. The latest arrest is therefore being viewed as a significant development in ongoing efforts to weaken the operational capacity of terrorist groups in the region.

The operation comes amid renewed military offensives across parts of Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and other North-West states, where security forces have intensified raids on criminal hideouts and supply routes in response to persistent attacks on communities. Recent operations have also resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition and the neutralisation of several armed fighters.

Despite these gains, insecurity remains a major challenge in the region, with communities continuing to face threats from banditry, kidnapping and armed violence. Residents and civil society organisations have consistently called for sustained security operations and stronger measures to prevent the flow of weapons and ammunition to criminal groups.
