Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have uncovered and shut down a suspected illegal detention facility in Lagos State, rescuing 24 victims and arresting four foreign nationals allegedly linked to the operation.

According to security officials, the facility was allegedly being used to detain and exploit victims under the guise of employment and business opportunities. The operation followed intelligence gathering and surveillance by security personnel, leading to a raid on the location and the rescue of those held at the camp.
The NSCDC said preliminary investigations suggest the victims were subjected to unlawful confinement and other forms of exploitation. Authorities have commenced further investigations to determine the full extent of the operation and identify other individuals who may be connected to the facility.
The discovery has renewed concerns about the existence of illegal detention centres and human trafficking networks operating in parts of the country. Human rights advocates have repeatedly called for stricter enforcement against individuals and groups involved in unlawful confinement, trafficking and exploitation.
Security agencies have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to dismantle similar networks and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
