Police Rescue Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons After Fierce Operation Against Kidnappers In Oyo

Security operatives have successfully rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her 12-year-old twin sons following a coordinated operation against their abductors in Oyo State.

The victims were reportedly freed after police operatives tracked the kidnappers and engaged them during a rescue mission. Reports indicate that the operation led to a confrontation with the armed gang, resulting in the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers while others reportedly fled the scene.

Mrs John-Paul and her sons were abducted on June 3 while she was taking the children to school in the Challenge–Elewura area of Ibadan. The incident sparked widespread concern across Oyo State and drew reactions from political leaders, civil society groups and residents already alarmed by rising cases of kidnapping and violent crime in the state.

Following the abduction, the Oyo State Police Command launched a manhunt and deployed tactical teams to secure the release of the victims. Security agencies had earlier assured the public that all necessary resources were being mobilised to rescue the family and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

The successful rescue comes amid growing public concern over insecurity in Oyo State, where communities have recently witnessed a series of kidnappings, including the abduction of schoolchildren, teachers and other residents. The incident reignited debates about the effectiveness of existing security measures and the urgent need for stronger protection of lives and property.

While the rescue has been welcomed by many residents, the broader challenge of kidnapping remains a major concern across the country. Security analysts continue to stress the importance of intelligence-driven operations, improved surveillance and sustained action against criminal networks responsible for kidnappings and other violent crimes.
