Staff of EHCON-PHS on Monday warmly received the Honourable Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, and the Registrar/CEO of the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON), San Dr. Yakubu Baba Mohammed, following their return from an international conference.
The reception team was led by San. Chakiram Yusuf and the Coordinator, San. Azua Abraham, alongside staff members who gathered to welcome the dignitaries.
Speaking during the reception, the General Secretary, San. Comrade Egene Tijani Eneojo, commended the Minister for his commitment to implementing the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and for his continued support towards EHCON’s programmes and reforms. He also praised the Registrar’s management team for advancing the Council’s rebranding agenda and strengthening the environmental health profession.
In his remarks, the Honourable Minister expressed appreciation for the warm reception, describing the gesture as encouraging and overwhelming after an official international engagement. He urged staff to remain committed to national service and expressed optimism about their future growth within the profession.
The Minister also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting EHCON’s policies and programmes aimed at strengthening environmental health practice, improving public health standards, and enhancing environmental protection across Nigeria.
The visit comes amid ongoing efforts to reposition environmental health practice and improve public health outcomes through stronger regulation, professional development, and institutional reforms.
