Kidnappers Abduct Resident, Shoot Another in Abuja Community

Suspected kidnappers have abducted a resident and shot another during a late-night attack on a residential area near the Quarry section of Arab Road in Kubwa, a suburb of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

According to The Punch, the attack occurred between 11 p.m. on Saturday and midnight on Sunday when the armed assailants stormed the community, causing panic among residents. One person was reportedly whisked away by the kidnappers, while another sustained gunshot injuries during the incident.

Residents said the latest attack has heightened fears over the worsening security situation in Kubwa and surrounding communities, which have witnessed a series of kidnappings and violent attacks in recent months. The incident comes barely days after armed men abducted several residents and killed a vigilante member in another part of Kubwa.

As of the time of reporting, security agencies were said to have launched efforts to track down the kidnappers and rescue the abducted victim. However, concerns continue to grow among residents over the frequency of such attacks in the nation’s capital.

The latest abduction adds to the growing insecurity challenges confronting communities within the FCT, with residents calling on authorities to strengthen security measures and improve surveillance in vulnerable areas.
