NYSC Member Reportedly Arrested Over Podcast Criticising Kwara Bridge Project, Allegations Link Operation to Ex-Commissioner Olododo

A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, identified as Segun Ajibare, has reportedly been arrested in Osun State and transferred to Ilorin, Kwara State, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over his online commentaries and podcasts critical of government infrastructure projects in Kwara State.

PlightTalk News gathered from sources familiar with the incident that Ajibare was picked up on Wednesday in Osogbo, where he is currently serving under the NYSC scheme.

According to the sources, the arrest followed his repeated social media commentary and podcast discussions questioning the execution, cost, and transparency of the Moro Bridge rehabilitation project in Kwara State.

The project was reportedly carried out under the supervision of former Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Abdulquawiy Olododo.

One of Ajibare’s recent podcast episodes, published on May 4, 2026, reportedly raised concerns over alleged discrepancies in the project’s cost and quality, sparking renewed public debate on accountability in government infrastructure projects.

A source told PlightTalk News that the corps member was taken shortly after sending an emergency message indicating that he was being trailed by security operatives.

“He has been arrested by DSS and NSCDC operatives and taken to Ilorin. He was picked up in Osogbo where he is serving,” the source said.

The source further described Ajibare as a civic commentator who frequently uses podcasts and social media to critique governance, infrastructure delivery, and public accountability in rural communities.

Another source alleged that the arrest may be connected to his recent criticism of road and borehole projects in parts of Kwara State, including the Moro Local Government Area.

It was also alleged that the operation was a coordinated effort involving DSS operatives and NSCDC personnel, who reportedly transported the suspect to Ilorin following his arrest in Osogbo.

However, details surrounding the legality and authorization of the arrest remain unclear, as official confirmation has not been independently verified.

Efforts by PlightTalk News to reach Abdulquawiy Olododo for comment were unsuccessful, as calls and messages were not returned at the time of filing this report.

Similarly, the Kwara State NSCDC spokesperson, Ayoola Michael Shola, could not be reached for official reaction.
